- Multicenter randomized controlled trial, 1:1 randomization.
- Population
- Adults (≥18 years) in the emergency department with non-traumatic, acute abdominal pain (onset ≤7 days) as the chief complaint.
- Intervention
- Abdominal POCUS added to the standard examination of a patient with acute abdominal pain in the emergency department.
- Comparator
- The standard examination of a patient with acute abdominal pain in the emergency department.
- Outcomes
- Primary outcome: Correct preliminary diagnosis compared with a final adjudicated diagnosis (reference standard).
- Sample size
- 508 patients.
- Setting
- Six Danish emergency departments across three regions.
